Ismail Sabri: Police take action against 508 for violating MCO on Tuesday (Oct 27), majority in KL, S’gor, Sabah

PETALING JAYA: Police took action against 508 people on Tuesday (October 27) for violating the various motion control orders (MCOs), with the most criminals in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Sabah, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob .

The Chief Minister (Security) said 192 of the crimes occurred in Kuala Lumpur, 155 in Selangor and 36 in Sabah.

Of the total, 501 were given compounds while the others were in preventive detention or on police bail.

The violations included not wearing face masks (160), failing to provide check-in facilities for customers (113), failing to observe physical distancing (97), operating facilities beyond the allowed hours (33), entertainment points (10) and 95 for other violations.

“The task force will continue to increase inspections and take action on facility owners and the public who do not adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs),” Ismail said at his Covid-19 press conference on Wednesday (Oct 28). ).

In total, the task force that monitors SOP compliance, led by the police, conducted 52,327 checks across the country, Ismail said.

These controls were carried out in supermarkets, restaurants, street vendors, factories, banks and also government offices, as well as transport centers.

Ismail also said that 18 undocumented immigrants were detained for immigration offenses, while three vehicles were seized under Ops Benteng, the operation to protect Malaysia’s borders.

Ismail added that the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) inspected 24 construction sites in the country, and 17 were found to be in compliance with SOPs, while two were not in operation.

He said five were found to be not complying with SOPs and received warnings.
