Ismail Sabri: Most OLS crimes are for not practicing physical distancing

PETALING JAYA: Most of the criminals arrested under the recovery movement control (MCO) order did not practice physical distancing, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said that as of Friday (September 25), the police had arrested 115 people for various MCO-related crimes.

“Of the 115, 11 were compounds issued while another four were arrested. Of the crimes, 35 were for not practicing physical distancing, 26 were for expired travel documentation and 17 were for not preparing information registration facilities,” said Ismail Sabri in a statement. on Saturday (September 26).

He also said that 67 illegal immigrants were detained, along with the seizure of two motorboats and five land vehicles during roadblocks that involved authorities.

“The police conducted 53,695 inspections across the country to ensure standard operating procedures are being followed,” said Ismail Sabri.

It said 2,846 inspection teams involving 12,356 people inspected thousands of premises, including supermarkets, restaurants, street vendors, factories, banks and government offices.

“They also monitored 1,196 land transport terminals, 186 water transport terminals and 149 air transport terminals,” Ismail Sabri said.

As of Friday, 7,903 people who had returned from foreign countries were still in mandatory quarantine and 103 more were sent to hospital for treatment.

Ismail Sabri also stated that sanitation operations are being carried out in the premises under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.

“Yesterday (September 25), 19 sanitation operations involved four red zones, three yellow zones and 10 green zones that involved six states,” Ismail Sabri said.

He added that the monitoring of prices and the supply of goods and basic daily needs by the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumption in commercial premises was carried out normally.
