Ismail Sabri: EMCO will be enforced in Jasin Prison from Dec 22 to Jan 4

PUTRAJAYA: Enhanced Movement Control Order (MCO) will be enforced at the Correctional Center in Jasin, Melaka, as well as staff quarters starting Tuesday (December 22), Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced .

He said that the extraordinary meeting of the National Security Council was informed by the Ministry of Health about the situation of Covid-19 in that place, where as of December 19, 251 examinations were carried out, including second and third tests.

“The health authorities registered 133 positive cases and also confirmed that there is an increase in the number of cases in the center in a short period of time.

“With the advice of the ministry, the council agreed to enforce the improved MCOs in the locality from December 22 to January 4, 2121,” it said on Monday (December 21).

The order involved 771 individuals comprising 603 inmates and 168 members of the correctional facility staff, as well as their family members.

Ismail Sabri said existing standard operating procedures in enhanced MCOs apply, including movement in and out of the center, and no visitors will be allowed during the period.
