KUALA LUMPUR: An enhanced motion control (MCO) order was imposed on Kampung Serumah Daerah Kecil Siburan in Serian, Sarawak from Sunday (March 7) to March 20.
Chief Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that as of Friday (March 5), a total of 416 tests had been conducted there and 21 positive cases of Covid-19 had been recorded.
“The Ministry of Health has confirmed that the virus is spreading involving the inhabitants of that town.
After a risk assessment, the government agreed to impose an improved MCO from March 7 to March 20, “it said in a statement on Saturday (March 6).
The improved MCO will allow the Ministry of Health to conduct assessments on 580 residents and track close contacts, he added.
Ismail Sabri added that the upgraded MCO at the Central Medicare shelter, factory and construction site in Hilir Perak will finish as scheduled on Sunday.
“A total of 2,074 screenings have been performed and 1,650 positive cases have been recorded. All positive cases have received treatment, while their close contacts have been isolated and monitored,” Ismail Sabri said.
“The Ministry of Health confirmed that the number of cases has dropped and the cluster is under control,” he added.
