PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 297 people for various violations of the recovery movement control order, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Photo).
The violations include not physical distancing, not wearing masks in crowded places and not registering clients and activities in entertainment venues, the defense minister said on Monday (December 28).
It added that on Sunday (December 27), the police conducted more than 83,106 checks between supermarkets, restaurants, street vendors, factories, government offices, banks, and transportation terminals to ensure compliance.
Ops Benteng, meanwhile, saw the arrest of 22 illegal immigrants and four Tekong.
“Measures will be taken against those who enter the country illegally. There is no compromise on this, ”he said Monday.
Ismail Sabri also said that since July 24, some 93,500 people have returned to Malaysia.
To date, 7,771 people are in quarantine at government-designated stations.
