KUALA LUMPUR: The hours of operation of daily markets located in conditional motion control order (MCO) areas have been extended until 4 p.m. Saturday (Nov 28), says Chief Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Photo).
The defense minister said the government was aware of complaints from small traders, as the hours of operation of such markets were limited from 10 am to 2 pm only during the CMCO.
“The meeting of the Special National Security Council (NSC) discussed the matter and decided to extend the hours of operation by two hours.
“The markets will be able to trade from 10 am to 4 pm, starting tomorrow (November 28),” he told reporters during his daily briefing on Friday (November 27).
However, Rela’s staff will be stationed at the markets to ensure merchants and clients follow standard operating procedure (SOP), he added.
“Extending the hours of operation is in line with the extended hours for other businesses such as restaurants and various stores,” he said.
