Ismail Sabri: Authorities Arrested Ten People For ‘Wild Party’ While 450 Caught For Violating MCO Recovery

PETALING JAYA: Authorities arrested ten people for attending a wild party while harshly attacking those who violated health protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The defense minister said on Saturday (October 10) that measures were also taken against 21 people involved in prostitution activities and 91 others involved in entertainment activities.

They were among 450 people arrested for committing various crimes under the recovery movement control order.

“Composite advisories were issued to 378 people, while another 66 were detained and six were rescued,” he said.

The first on the list of crimes were not wearing a mask (150) followed by participating in entertainment activities (91), not observing social distancing (80), not providing tools or recording personal data (60) and participating in prostitution . activities (21).

Authorities also captured 15 illegal immigrants and took action against 21 people who had violated their lockdown order.

Ismail said the police-led enforcement task force had conducted 56,072 checks on 3,459 supermarkets, 4,669 restaurants, 1,442 street vendors, 2,148 markets, 3,740 places of worship and 1,367 recreation areas on Friday (October 9).

It added that from July 24 to October 9, 45,208 people had been placed under a mandatory quarantine order upon returning from abroad and that 9,469 people are currently in quarantine at 68 hotels and 16 other facilities, including public and private training institutes in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Johor, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Terengganu, Sabah and Labuan.

“A total of 129 were taken to the hospital for treatment, and 35,610 were discharged and allowed to go home,” he said.

Ismail called on the public to observe strict personal hygiene, wear masks and maintain social distancing to reduce the risk of contracting the virus.
