Ismail Sabri: Action taken against 241 people for violating MCO recovery

KUALA LUMPUR: Authorities have taken action against 241 people for violating the recovery movement control order (MCO), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Chief Minister (Security) said 41 were sent to pre-trial detention and two received police bail, while the remaining 198 received compounds on Friday (October 2).

“The police-led enforcement operations task force conducted 54,024 checks across the country. Among the locations checked were 3,371 supermarkets, 4,510 restaurants and 3,872 places of worship,” he said at a news conference on Saturday (3 de October).

In Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said that 21 undocumented immigrants, a boat captain and two smugglers were detained on Friday.

“Authorities also seized 10 land vehicles. A total of 101 barricades were also installed throughout the country,” he added.

He also urged those with information on undocumented migrants and cross-border crimes to contact the National Task Force (NTF) hotline at 011-62511223.

In another matter, Ismail Sabri said 39,628 people have returned from abroad between July 24 and October 2.

“8,734 remain under mandatory quarantine at 66 hotels and 11 other facilities. 106 have been sent to hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19, while 30,788 people have been discharged and allowed to go home,” he said.

Regarding food and basic necessities, Ismail Sabri said that the supply was sufficient and easy to obtain throughout the country.
