PETALING JAYA: Police detained 672 people for not complying with movement control order (MCO) regulations on Saturday (December 19), says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The defense minister said that among the crimes are activities in places of entertainment (442 people), not wearing masks (90), not complying with physical distancing (78) and not leaving contact information (37).
“A total of 643 people received compounds and 29 were referred,” it said in a statement on Sunday (December 20).
The Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Compliance Task Force also conducted 45,483 verifications involving 3,482 supermarkets, 4,814 restaurants, 1,572 street vendors, 1,238 factories, 3,124 banks, and 669 government offices.
“A total of 941 land transport terminals, 235 water transport terminals, as well as 84 air transport terminals were also monitored,” he said.
Ismail said law enforcement authorities captured 83 illegal immigrants, one tekong (captains) and seized three ground vehicles, with 118 roadblocks set up on Saturday.
Meanwhile, public sanitation operations, which are regulated by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, have been carried out 12,837 times since March 30 in 137 areas.
On Saturday, he said, 39 sanitation operations were carried out in 11 red zones, two orange zones, 10 yellow zones and three green zones, involving 11 states and two federal territories.
Regarding the mandatory quarantines, a total of 89,479 people who returned to the country between July 24 and December 18 were quarantined at 75 hotels and 16 public training institutes and private education institutes throughout the country.
“Of the total, 8,384 people are still in mandatory quarantine, while 532 people have been sent to hospital for treatment.
“A total of 80,563 people were allowed to return to their homes. People had returned from 36 countries, including Cambodia, Thailand, India and others, ”he said.
