KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested 523 people for defying the recovery movement control order (MCO), says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The defense minister said 40 people were detained while 483 received compounds for various violations of the recovery motion control (MCO) order on Saturday (September 26).
“Violations committed include nightclub activities (356), social distancing violations (105), not wearing masks (38) and failing to provide check-in equipment (20),” it said in a statement Sunday (27 of September).
He said the police-led enforcement operations task force conducted 45,847 checks on Saturday to monitor and enforce the SOPs for the recovery MCO.
“A total of 3,213 supermarkets, 3,893 restaurants, 1,017 street vendors, 1,011 factories, as well as 2,896 banks and 528 government offices were reviewed.
“The working group also verified 903 land transport terminals, 207 water transport terminals and 99 air terminals.
“These controls were carried out by 2,424 teams that involved 11,244 people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ismail said that under Ops Benteng, a total of 75 illegal immigrants were captured on Saturday while three vehicles were seized.
“The police, the Malaysian Border Control Agency and the military set up a total of 98 barricades to curb the entry of illegal immigrants,” he said.
On sanitation operations of public places carried out by the Fire and Rescue Department and local governments, Ismail said that 10,123 operations have been carried out since March 30 in 135 areas.
He added that 13,055 premises involving 2,715 business centers, 5,763 government buildings, 1,600 residential areas, 2,623 public places and 354 supermarkets were cleaned up.
“On Saturday, a total of 16 operations were carried out involving 14 zones, including Sarawak (six) Penang (four), Sabah (three), Kedah (one), Perlis (one) and Pahang (one).” , He said. that the operations were carried out by 52 personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department, 132 officials from local government and other agencies.
On the mandatory quarantine, Ismail said that 35,991 people returned to Malaysia between July 24 and September 26.
“All of them have been sent to 67 hotels, civil training institutes and private learning institutes for quarantine in places like Kuala Lumpur, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kelantan, Sarawak, Selangor, Perak, Johor and Labuan.

Ismail said that the enforcement staff of the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs on Friday (September 25) carried out checks on 668 business premises involved in 12 types of supply of essential items.
“The 668 installations included 479 retailers, 161 wholesalers and 28 manufacturers.
“They found that the supply of essential items was sufficient and easy to obtain,” he said.
It said enforcement personnel also reviewed 948 facilities, of which 15 were warned for not complying with standard operating procedures.
At the improved Aman Jaya MCO, Ismail said it would end on Sunday (September 27) as scheduled.
“There was no increase in registered Covid-19 cases during the 13 days since September 14, and 4,931 samples were taken in the Melor area and the number of positive Covid-19 cases remained at 13,” he said.
