KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The police have reopened the investigations into the death of Teoh Beng Hock, who was found dead on July 16, 2009, under Section 342 of the Penal Code (Unjustified Confinement).
The Ministry of the Interior, in a written response on Parliament’s website, reported that previous investigation documents had been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office (AGC) on February 24 and the police were instructed to continue with investigations.
“The police were ordered to present the documents to the AGC when the investigations were completed.
“The police have registered statements from 13 witnesses and investigations are ongoing,” said the ministry in response to Lim Lip Eng (PH-Kepong) who wanted to know the latest on the case, in addition to the number of witnesses whose statements have been recorded. , to facilitate investigations into Teoh’s death.
Teoh was found dead on the fifth floor of the Plaza Masalam building in Shah Alam after being interviewed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in his office on the 14th floor of the same building.
Teoh was then the political secretary to the Chairman of the Local Government, New Village Development and Factory Legalization Committee, Ean Yong Hian Wah, who was also a member of the Seri Kembangan State Assembly.
On November 18 of last year, the police established a special investigation team involving the Selangor Criminal Investigation Department and Bukit Aman, to re-investigate Teoh’s death following an AGC directive on July 16, 2019. , since the case was previously classified as sudden death.-Bernama
