KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Muhyidin Yassin has urged Sabah’s political leaders to unite and work as a team in efforts to develop the state.

Muhyiddin, who is also president of PPBM, said that under the new political rule, all political parties, be it PPBM, Umno, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), Parti Maju Sabah, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), MCA or PAS, they should sit together and discuss for the benefit of the people.

“We are all Malaysians. Under this new policy, we should sit at the same table and hold consultations and discussions in the interest of the people, especially today it is for the people of Sabah… that we are one.

“We work as a team to achieve success, then we build and develop the state for the people of Sabah. The hope is that Sabah will continue to progress, ”he said while speaking at a meeting of Sabah political leaders here today.

Among those present were the head of Sabah PPBM, Hajiji Noor; Sabah Umno President Bung Moktar Radin; STAR President Jeffrey Kitingan; PBS Vice President Radin Malleh; PBRS Vice President Arthur Joseph Kurup; Sabah MCA President Lu Yen Tung; The president of the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), Yong Teck Lee; Sabah PAS Commissioner Mohd Aminuddin Aling; and the former chief minister of Sabah, Musa Aman.

Muhyiddin said that the main thing now is to ensure that the political situation in the state is strong and stable, so the cooperation of all the leaders of the political parties was crucial to achieve this.

“When the state’s political situation is stable, it will help ensure that all economic and development programs run smoothly. That is why I am here to monitor the latest developments in Sabah and to take a closer look at what is happening here.

“Political leaders must forge a strong and cohesive relationship to help create more advanced economic and social development, gain more opportunities and advance to the level of high development that we have achieved before,” he said.
