PUTRAJAYA: Enhanced Movement Control (MCO) order enforced at three locations in Kudat, Sabah will be extended for another 14 days until November 26, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Photo).
He said the decision was made after health authorities discovered that there were still active cases in Kg Pengaraban, Kg Tanjung Kapor and Kg Landung Ayang, which has been under lockdown since October 12.
As of November 11, there are 21 active cases in Kg Pengaraban, 10 in Kg Tanjung Kapor and 54 in Kg Landung Ayang.
The Ministry of Health has conducted 14,096 Covid-19 screening tests to date.
“Since there are still several active cases and a large number of screen test results still pending, the ministry had advised the National Security Council to extend the enhanced MCO for another two weeks,” Ismail Sabri said on Thursday (Nov.12 ).
The closure involves 2,393 households with 13,884 people.
Ismail Sabri said the decision to impose a conditional or enhanced MCO is made after health authorities inform the government, based on the findings and complete data they have on the situation on the ground.
“Many people have asked what the reasons are behind the government’s decision to impose the blockade.
“All decisions are made based on the data, the risk assessment and the probabilities of infection presented by the Ministry of Health.
“They make recommendations based on data information. This is how these decisions are made, ”he said.
