The Immigration Department has urged foreign students to postpone their flights as enrollment in person had been postponed.

PETALING JAYA: The Department of Immigration said today that all new and existing foreign student admissions will be postponed until December 31st.

In a statement today, the Director General of the Department of Immigration, Khairul Dzaimee Daud, said this included students whose applications had been previously approved.

“This delay is in line with the decision of the Ministry of Higher Education on October 2 to postpone physical registration and classes for the admission of university students in October.”

He also said that the Immigration Department was hinted that the ministry had consulted airlines about rescheduling flights for international students.

The ministry had been criticized for a last-minute notice postponing the in-person search. Higher Education Minister Noraini Ahmad said this became necessary due to the sudden increase in Covid-19 cases.
