PUTRAJAYA: The Director General of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, has refuted the accusation of being afraid of dying from Covid-19 and avoiding activities on the ground.
“There are no problems of fear of death,” he said today at a press conference.
“As Muslims, we accept death wherever we (are), regardless of whether it occurs on the ground or not.”
Earlier in the Dewan Rakyat today, MP Tiong King Sing (GPS-Bintulu) questioned why Noor Hisham was not visiting hospitals to provide moral support to medical teams.
He claimed that Noor Hisham was afraid of dying and accused the latter of seeking publicity in his daily health reports.
Noor Hisham said that he had in fact gone down in late August when he flew to Sabah to monitor the preparations for the state elections.
He added that he had also instructed the ministry’s deputy director general of public health, Dr. Chong Chee Keong, and the director of the disease control division, Dr. Norhayati Rusli, to oversee matters related to Covid-19. in Sabah.
“Our main intention is to break the chain of Covid-19 infections in our country. This is so that we can save our country from Covid-19 and more deaths, ”he said.
