“I am not a terrorist, I am just a person who loves to study Islam and donate whenever I can,” said Alias, who was detained by the Internal Security Act (ISA).

He said that when he was arrested and charged with financing militant activities, there was no evidence linking him to the charges.

“I like to donate whenever possible and I don’t know the background of those to whom I donate,” Alias ​​said.

He said that his detention between 2003 and 2007 was also only for preventive purposes, as there was never any conviction against him for being involved in militant activities.

He also doesn’t see this as something that would affect his chances of winning Sekong’s seat.

“The people here know who I am and they know that I’m not a bad person,” Alias ​​said.

He added that it is important for all Malaysians to stand together and promote unity and tolerance with each other to ensure peace and harmony in this country.

He added that Islam itself also promotes peace and respect.

“Our country can never and will never progress comprehensively if we are not able to unite and work together as one,” said the religious teacher who runs a private school in the area.
