‘I’ll tell it all when I retire,’ says Masidi after swapping cabinet positions with Bung Moktar

KOTA KINABALU (September 29): Sabah’s newly appointed cabinet member Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun has expressed his exasperation over the portfolio swap with Sabah Barisan Nasional boss Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, hours after his appointment. this morning.

Posting his reaction on Twitter shortly after the exchange was announced, Masidi also hinted at the possibility that negotiations between Gabungan Rakyat Sabah members over ministerial posts might not have been smooth.

“What a day! Less than 3 hours after being appointed Minister of Public Works, I am now Minister of Housing and Local Government. I changed jobs with Bung. Please don’t ask me the reasons. I will say it all when I retire.” tweeted.

At the swearing-in ceremony at the Istana Negeri this morning, Masidi was sworn in as Minister of Works and Bung Moktar had been sworn in as Minister of Housing and Local Government.

However, Sabah’s new prime minister, Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor, later announced that Masidi and Bung Moktar had swapped portfolios and that Masidi was also appointed second finance minister.

Hajiji, who is the president of Sabah Perikatan Nasional and the head of Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, denied that the exchange was caused by a dispute and explained that he needed Masidi’s financial expertise to reactivate the state’s economy in light of the pandemic of Covid-19.

Bung, who is the head of Sabah Umno, was also appointed as one of the three deputy chief ministers. The other two are the President of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), Datuk Jeffrey Kitingan, and the Vice President of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Datuk Dr. Joachim Gunsalam.
