The Ministry of Health has advised IKEA management to close due to contact tracing and cleaning.

PETALING JAYA: IKEA’s Damansara store will be closed indefinitely following the detection of several Covid-19 cases involving employees and service partners.

In a Facebook post, management said the Health Ministry had advised it to close down to carry out contact tracing and sanitation work.

He added that the Health Ministry will call customers believed to be close contacts of infected employees.

“We work closely with the authorities and we will follow their advice.

“We have conducted and will continue to implement all necessary security measures, including replacement of service partner workers, contact tracing, swab testing, quarantine for all close contacts, and disinfection.

“The health, safety and general well-being of our customers, co-workers, partners and the community are our top priority.

“We will continue to work closely with public health officials and will do our part by carrying out all necessary preventive measures in our stores,” he said.

IKEA’s Damansara store had previously closed for a day in November after one of its part-time workers was suspected of being positive for Covid-19.
