KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador (pix) did not beat around the bush when he hit corrupt police personnel, including high-ranking police officers.

“I urge my staff to end this culture and come to their senses. The culture of bringing money from the bottom up for the IGP, ”he said today.

“Even the officers on the ground are afraid to act because the IGP wants it. This was happening before. Those who have withdrawn from the force are still trying to assert their powers to request favors from the police.

“When they’re not entertained, they get disappointed and then they start to find fault here and there. They say what I’m doing is wrong. I stand here and challenge you. What is wrong with what I have done or am doing? I want a police station to be a place where the public can bear their afflictions and not be afraid.

“I like to tell you, the PDRM is not mine, it belongs to the country. I, as IGP, have to convince the government that I am here to forcefully lead the way, to correct mistakes and bad culture by force. I have no sinister motives, ”he added.
