IPOH: The country’s top policeman says he will not give up negotiations with M. Indira Gandhi’s ex-husband for him and his daughter Prasana Diksa to return to Malaysia.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador (Photo) On Friday (September 11) he said from the beginning that he had declared that his promise to find Muhammad Riduan Abdullah, Indira’s ex-husband, would not be in vain.

“I will carry out the task with diligence.

“It is not just about ‘cakap-cakap kosong’ (mere talks). The matter is taken seriously,” he told reporters after attending an event to mark the police air unit base here as a school. full-blown flight.

Riduan, known as K. Pathmanathan before converting to Islam, took Prasana from Indira when she was only 11 months old.

Police have yet to locate Riduan despite an arrest warrant issued by the High Court in 2014.

It was assumed that Indira, along with her Action Team, would meet with the IGP last week on the progress in locating her ex-husband. However, the IGP had to attend another meeting in Putrajaya.

Abdul Hamid said that Indira and three other people who accompanied her had met with the director of the CID.

He said that all the facts and the actions taken by the police were explained to him.

“A high official has been communicating since last year through an intermediary with the husband, who is abroad with his daughter.

“At one point, communication with the husband was positive, but somehow unpleasant comments appeared in the newspapers and he withdrew.

“I will not remain silent in this case, since I understand the psychological burden that Indira and the children carry,” he added.

Abdul Hamid said the police had been working quietly under the radar as they did not want political interference in the matter.

“If he (Indira’s husband) were in the country, it would have been much easier for me to take measures, but the problem is that he is outside the country.

“An extradition process is complicated and will take a long time, so we are finding a way through the negotiations.

“He is not a tough criminal who committed murder or robbery, so what we are trying to do is resolve the matter in a friendly way,” he said, assuring Indira that he will not surrender.
