TANGKAK: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has revealed that he disagreed when the previous government wanted Felda to appear on the public list of FGV Holdings Berhad (FGV).

Muhyiddin said during the cabinet meeting at the time (2012), that he was aware that Felda officials and settlers did not agree with the measure.

“When it was included in the FGV list, I was in the Cabinet. I told the then prime minister (I don’t have to say who) that I disagreed.

“I know that Felda officials and the settlers did not agree with the decision to hand over Felda to FGV to become a publicly traded company.

“The share price at that time was RM4.50, if I’m not mistaken, but now it has fallen to RM1.28,” he said during a speech at a meeting event with Pagoh residents in Felda Sri Jaya, Bukit. Serampang. , Here today.

Muhyiddin said that Pakatan Harapan (PH) tried to submit a whitepaper on Felda, but was unable to do so.

“So when Perikatan Nasional (PN) took over, we focused on the recovery of Felda. The PN government must take steps to restore the rights of the original settlers.

“Before we do this, we have to make sure that Felda is profitable.

“The president of Felda, Idris Jusoh, has ensured that the entity will return to generate profits, as it used to, by 2023. I will make the president keep his word,” he said.
