Huawei Malaysia has started testing its new MateBook 14 laptop which is powered by the latest AMD Ryzen 4000 series processor. The new MateBook 14 2020 was announced last month and will soon go on sale in Malaysia.
The product page is now available on the Huawei Malaysia online store and there are two model options. The MateBook 14 2020 can be configured with either the Ryzen 5 4600H or Ryzen 7 4800H processor, and both are equipped with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and 512GB of PCI-e SSD storage. To keep things cool, the laptop features a dual-fan Huawei shark fin system that claims to provide better thermal management without excessive noise.
The Huawei MateBook 14 2020 has a 14 ″ IPS FullView 2K (2160 × 1440 pixels) display that comes with a 3: 2 aspect ratio. According to the spec sheet, the Ryzen 7 model supports a touch screen.
In terms of features, it has a power button with a built-in fingerprint sensor and there’s also a 720p pop-up HD camera that’s hidden in the row of keyboard functions. The trackpad has a built-in Huawei Share tag that enables you to enable multi-screen collaboration with a compatible Huawei smartphone.
The MateBook 14 has a single USB-C port for charging and data transfer, 2 USB 3.2 Gen-1 Type-A ports, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The laptop has a 56Wh battery that is charged via a provided 65W USB-C charger. According to Huawei, you can get 2.5 hours of use on a one-minute fast charge. The laptop ships with Microsoft Windows 10 Home Edition (64-bit).
So far there are no prices for the new MateBook 14 at the moment. The current Huawei MateBook 13 R5 with a Ryzen 5 3500U processor is currently priced at RM3,499. We estimate that the starting price for the new 2020 model will be less than RM4,000 similar to the Honor MagicBook Pro.
