Jurgen Klopp is expected to welcome Sadio Mane and Joel Matip to the starting eleven for Liverpool’s clash with Ajax tonight.
The pair stayed out of the team to play Brighton on Saturday with Mane only appearing from the bench.
Matip will resume his midfielder association with Fabinho, who continues to occupy the center of defense.
Neco Williams is ready to continue to replace the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold, while Andy Robertson reprises his usual role of left back.
Curtis Jones, who did not participate at the weekend after expressing some discomfort in training, will be part of a midfield trio alongside Jordan Henderson and Giorginio Winaldum.
Diogo Jota is the club’s top scorer in Europe and found the net again on Saturday.
However, he is ready to fall to the bench when Klopp becomes the three regular forwards of Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
The German saw his team win in Amsterdam thanks to a rare own goal.
Their perfect Group D record ended Atalanta at Anfield last weekend, however Klopp expects a tough challenge with qualifying ready to go all the way.
He said: “They have had to adapt in recent seasons after losing some players to rival clubs. I remember from my own experience in Dortmund how it feels and what a challenge it is.
“The way they deal with it is exceptional. The team’s foundations remain strong and they have hired well. They have a clear identity. I love watching them, I have to say.
“I think they are as dangerous an opponent as can be at this stage of the competition.
“It’s no wonder this group is so tight and will probably go to the final round to decide.”
Liverpool’s planned formation: Alisson; N. Williams, Fabinho, Matip, Robertson; Jones, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane
