HKL fire extinguished, services not affected

KUALA LUMPUR: The fire that broke out in the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) warehouse has been extinguished and medical services are operating as usual, said hospital director Datuk Dr. Heric Corray.

Dr. Corray, in a statement today, said that the forensic branch of the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) had conducted an investigation, while patients and staff were allowed to return to their respective rooms at 12:48 p.m. this morning after the fire was completely put out. .

“Once declared safe, the patients were transferred back to their respective wards and the transfer was completed around 2 am. The cause of the fire is still being investigated by JBPM, ”he said.

Dr. Corray said that in the 11 p.m. incident last night, no casualties or injuries were reported.

He said the incident was first noticed when the hospital’s control room and call center were informed of the alarm triggered by the smoke detector and the JBPM was immediately alerted at 11:07 p.m.

Earlier, patients in various wards were evacuated to safety, he said, adding that hospital staff successfully put out the fire with a fire extinguisher and a water hose around 11:20 p.m. before the arrival of firefighters. -Named
