PETALING JAYA: A 52-year-old highwayman apparently took advantage of the wrong victim: a police officer.

In the incident at 3.20 pm on Thursday (September 17), the 32-year-old police officer, who was driving a Perodua Myvi, was making a U-turn at the stoplight in Palm Spring, Kota Damansara.

However, the Proton Saga suspect had approached the police vehicle and followed closely after the U-turn.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Communications Assistant Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the suspect then passed the police car and stopped in front of him.

This caused the victim to stop his car in front of the Mutiara Damansara MRT bus stop.

“The suspect then disembarked from his car and scolded the victim with rude words,” he said when contacted on Friday (September 18).

Even at the police station, the suspect yelled and scolded the investigating officer despite being told to calm down while the officer explained why he had to be detained.

“He even snatched a copy of a police report from the investigating officer.

“Since then he has been in preventive detention for four days,” said ACP Nik Ezanee.
