KUALA LUMPUR: A man was arrested in connection with a harassment incident on the road in front of the Mutiara Damansara MRT bus stop yesterday.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said a 34-year-old police officer had made a U-turn at a traffic light in Palm Spring Kota Damansara, but was forced to stop by another motorist.
The man, 52, was driving a Proton Saga. “He drove closely towards the Perodua Myvi car that belonged to the policeman, followed the victim’s car before passing and abruptly stopped his car in front of the victim’s car, causing the victim to stop,” Nik Ezanee said.
The man got out of the car and abused the victim with offensive words.
“Both individuals filed a police report, but the suspect refused to cooperate with the investigating officer who attempted to explain the reasons for his arrest. The suspect yelled and ranted before snatching a copy of the report from the officer, ”he said.
The man was in preventive detention for four days.
In another development, a man with 11 criminal records for fraud was arrested after it was discovered that he was offering “Datukship” titles, allegedly from Kelantan Palace, for RM20,000.
Nik Ezanee said the 58-year-old victim, a member of the security forces, was allegedly introduced to the 32-year-old suspect by his colleague five years ago.
Police arrested the suspect in Kuantan, Pahang, at 11:40 am on Thursday before turning him over to the Petaling Jaya police, where he has been in pre-trial detention for two days.
