PUTRAJAYA: Employers have been urged to cooperate with the government in its massive Covid-19 detection exercise or in a risky legal action.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (Photo) said companies would suffer if their businesses were ordered to close if an employee were infected with the virus.

“We found that some employers have not cooperated during this exercise.

“I urge employers to work with the Ministry of Human Resources and the Ministry of Health.

“If your workers test positive for Covid-19, your factories must be closed. Therefore, you better work with us.

“The loss you suffer from the closure of your factories or businesses will be much worse.

“We have asked the Attorney General’s Office to see what kind of action we can take against employers who refuse to cooperate,” Ismail said at a press conference on Tuesday (December 15).

He said that between December 1 and December 14, more than 17,000 workers had undergone the mass Covid-19 screening exercise.

“Of that total, 555 workers tested positive for Covid-19. About 663 factories and 652 clinics have participated in this exercise by the Ministry of Human Resources, ”said Ismail.
