“Today’s mission will take between eight and 10 hours for both flights,” the ministry said on its Facebook page on Friday (October 30).

The A400M was loaded with supplies from the ministry, including 150 sets of PPE, 150 boxes of face shields, 50 boxes of overalls, 10 canopy screens, 15 procedure carts, 80 boxes of gowns and shoe covers, three biological safety cabinets, four boxes of blood cells and three boxes of blood platelets.

“The plane was also loaded with 100 glove boxes from the Ministry of Industry and International Trade, two shawl boxes, five boxes of clothes and tools, and prayer items from Yayasan Yayasan Amal Malaysia.

“In addition, there were 44 boxes of masks and PPE from the Ministry of Defense and two ventilation units, 25 boxes of masks and 22 boxes of hand sanitizer from Sunway Healthcare,” he said.

The C-130H aircraft carried 400 sets of PPE, 50 boxes of face shields, and Ministry of Health overalls.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin inspected the preparations for both flights at the air base here in the morning, accompanied by Defense Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Health Minister Datuk Seri Adham Baba.

They were greeted by the Chief of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Tan Sri Ackbal Abdul Samad, who gave a briefing on the deployment of the RMAF aircraft before checking the process of loading the supplies onto the aircraft, according to Bernama.

Muhyiddin expressed his gratitude to RMAF and other agencies on the front lines in the battle against the pandemic.

Between March 22 and October 27, the RMAF flew a total of 17 flights to deliver aid, medical equipment and critical supplies weighing more than 433 tons, the national news agency noted.

“In October, 471 samples were flown from Labuan, Kota Kinabalu and Tawau via RMAF aircraft to be tested in laboratories on the Peninsula.

“The RMAF also sent 68 health workers to Tawau to help with the field hospital after the third wave of the pandemic.

“A total of 151 staff members of the ministry’s mobilization team have been deployed to Tawau and Kota Kinabalu,” he added.
