‘He hugged me for five minutes and cried’ – Bayern Munich manager Karl-Heinz Rummenigge lifts the lid on the emotional farewell to Thiago Alcántara, who completed the £ 25 million move to Liverpool this week.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed that Thiago Alcantara burst into tears and hugged him when his transfer to Liverpool was confirmed.
The Spanish midfielder completed a £ 25 million move towards the Premier League champions earlier this week after seven successful years for the Bundesliga giants.
Thiago was desperate to leave Bayern this summer with a Premier League on his wish list and Rummenigge revealed that he had an emotional hug with the player when his move was arranged.

The Spanish midfielder completed the £ 25 million move to Anfield earlier this week.
The Bayern boss said: ‘After the transfer was finalized, I saw Thiago in the parking lot waiting for me.
“ He hugged me for five minutes, cried and thanked me for making it possible. ”
Thiago left Bayern Munich as the Champions League winner after helping the German giants complete a sensational hat-trick with head coach Hansi Flick.
The 29-year-old has also won the last seven Bundesliga titles with Bayern, while also lifting four German Cups and the 2013 Club World Cup trophy.
After completing his move, Thiago told Liverpool’s official website: ‘I think it’s an amazing feeling. I have been waiting for this moment for a long time and I am very, very happy to be here.

“As the years go by, you are trying to earn as much as you can, and when you win, you want to earn more. I think this club also describes what I am; I want to achieve all the goals, win as many trophies as possible.

Thiago played 235 times for Bayern Munich, scoring 31 goals in his seven years at the Allianz Arena.
Before moving to Bayern, Thiago joined the ranks of Barcelona, where he won two La Liga titles and the 2011 Champions League title.
