COMMENTARY The disputes between the leaders of the parties that make up the Perikatan Nasional (PN) group have shown the weakness of the unelected ruling coalition, and it looks like it is going to break at any moment and the government may fall soon.
The current Covid-19 outbreak is one of the most challenging periods in Malaysia. Although there are signs that the pandemic is slowing, it is far from over until a vaccine is found and universally distributed. Until then, people’s lives are still at risk.
However, PN leaders continue to fight for jobs, putting profits ahead of people. This is a good reminder to Pakatan Harapan that the government’s duty is to ensure the well-being of people by putting them first.
Lest we forget, the legitimate Harapan government failed in part because it was torn apart by extreme voices on racial margins. To some extent, some of the leaders did not put lives and livelihoods as our main agenda, as they too were absorbed into racial politics.
