KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s newly appointed Chief Minister Hajiji Noor said today that the state government under his leadership is determined to step up the momentum of state development.

He said this included improving people’s quality of life through the implementation of various programs and initiatives spanning various sectors, while strengthening the development of rural infrastructure and public services, as well as improving quality. of Education.

The Sabah government, he said, will also focus on health and human capital, improving information and communications technology facilities, providing more affordable housing, reducing poverty, increasing employment opportunities and boosting state security. .

“More important is restoring the economy of the state, which has been slowed and affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said in his speech at the investiture ceremony held in conjunction with Yang di-Pertua Negeri Juhar Mahiruddin’s 67th birthday in Istana Negeri here. today.

Also in attendance were Juhar’s wife, Norlidah RM Jasni; Hajiji’s wife Juliah Salag, the three Deputy Chiefs Bung Moktar Radin, Jeffrey Kitingan and Joachim Gunsalam, Sabah II Finance Minister Masidi Manjun, Rural Development Minister Jahid Jahim, State Secretary Safar Untong, the Federal Secretary Samsuni Mohd Nor and State Police Commissioner Hazani Ghazali.

Hajiji also said he was grateful that Sabah’s 16th state election was held in a peaceful and orderly manner and, with Juhar’s consent and support, a new state government had been formed.

“Together with the formation of the State Cabinet, I am determined and committed to assuming the responsibilities and the trust that the people give it,” he added.

Comparing Juhar to that of an umbrella of unity for all people regardless of race, ethnicity, and religion, Hajiji said that the people of Sabah highly appreciated the stability and harmonious life they had been enjoying for generations.

“The feeling of unity and mutual respect are life values ​​that we will continue to sow and practice so that peace and prosperity are preserved forever,” he said in his pledge of allegiance to Yang di-Pertua Negeri on behalf of the state government and the people. of Sabah.
