Households in Malaysia will now be able to claim RM 200 electronic rebate to purchase locally made energy efficient refrigerators or air conditioners.
Users can apply for the Sustainability Achieved through Energy Efficiency (Save 2.0) program through the Shopee application and get approved within 14 days.
Once approved, users would get RM200 credited to their app wallet.
The program was available on a first-come, first-served basis to Malaysians registered with a national utility company (Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Sarawak Energy Bhd, or Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd).
The Sustainable Energy Development Authority (Seda) is running the program, in collaboration with the Energy Commission and Shopee.
Their goal was to educate the public about energy efficient appliances and increase the adoption of appliances with four or five star energy ratings.
Last November, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Datuk, Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, announced that the program would benefit 140,000 households using an allocation of RM30 thousand in the 2021 budget.
