KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 29): Bursa Malaysia continued to trade lower in the afternoon with the key index weighed down by index-pegged glove makers amid the launch of the Covid-19 vaccine.
At 3.15pm, the benchmark FBM KLCI index had lost 6.13 points to 1,637.77.
The overall breadth of the market leaned into negative territory with losers topping winners from 601 to 490, while 466 counters remained unchanged, 571 untraded and another 22 suspended.
The volume stood at 6.51 billion units worth RM2.81 billion.
Glove makers Hartalega Holdings Bhd fell 56 sen to RM11.90, Top Glove Corp Bhd fell 19 sen to RM6.07 and Supermax Corp Bhd weakened 31 sen to RM6.08.
Among other heavyweights, Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) rose four sen to RM8.58, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem) added one sen to RM7.50, IHH Healthcare Bhd gained two sen to RM5.74 and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd added three. sen at RM4.33, while Hong Leong Bank Bhd (HLB) and Maxis Bhd were unchanged at RM18.60 and RM5.07 respectively.
Among assets, Techna-X Bhd increased 3.5 sen to 17.5 sen, Mestron Holdings Bhd increased one sen to 22.5 sen, Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd expanded 6.5 sen to 46.5 sen, Sarawak Cable Bhd increased it shot 22 sen to 56.5 sen, AT Systematization Bhd was flat at 20 sen and Iris Corp Bhd fell half sen to 43.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas index decreased 35.07 points to 11,812.94, the FBMT 100 index fell 37.27 points to 11,563.38, the FBM 70 fell 25.60 points to 15,171.89, the FBM Emas Shariah index dropped 63.79 points to 13,191.96 and the FBM ACE strengthened 40.85 points to 10,720.64.
The Industrial Products and Services Index added 0.13 points to 177.28, the Financial Services Index increased 34.67 points to 15,462.96 and the Plantations Index decreased 13.69 points to 7,417.32.
