KUALA LUMPUR, February 6: Teachers and educators should take priority in the National COVID-19 Immunization Program, which will soon be implemented, according to the National Association of Parents and Teachers (PIBGN) and the Pharmacists Society of Malaysia (PFM).

PIBGN President Datuk Mohamad Ali Hasan and PFM President Amrahi Buang said today in a joint statement that the priority was appropriate for schools to be able to reopen and ensure a safe environment for children, as well as provide stability to the educational ecosystem.

“This measure will reduce anxiety and concern among parents about sending their children to their respective schools.

“The vaccine will lift the confidence and spirits of teachers to go back to teaching in their schools without having to worry if they are the cause of the infection in students,” the statement said.

They both said that since the COVID-19 vaccine does not currently involve people 18 years of age or younger, students should be protected by vaccinating their teachers.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the government would begin implementing the National COVID-19 Immunization Program by the end of this month, with 80 percent of the country’s population, or about 26.5 people, prepared to receive the vaccine. free.- Called
