Gary Lineker proposed that Liverpool FC get out of control with the Premier League title after the Reds achieved a resounding victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
The defending Premier League champions won 2-1 against title rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield in their midweek clash thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
Salah rested for the trip to Crystal Palace and his replacement Takumi Minamino broke the deadlock in the third minute with a shot from close range at Selhurst Park.
Liverpool FC doubled their lead in the 35th minute when Sadio Mane ended a nine-goal drought before Firmino scored in successive Premier League matches with a strong finish.
Liverpool FC captain Jordan Henderson put an end to any chance of an unexpected Palace comeback with a clinical goal after Trent Alexander-Arnold attacked him.
Salah came off the bench to place Firmino on the Brazilian’s second goal before the Egyptian international scored twice in the final 70 minutes to secure a 7-0 win against the southeast side of London.
The Reds were six points away from second-ranked Tottenham before the North London team’s home clash against fourth-ranked Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.
Former Spurs forward Lineker took to Twitter to predict Liverpool FC will retain their Premier League title after their dominant performance at Selhurst Park.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “It seems likely that @LFC will flee again with the Premier League. On a different level. “
Liverpool FC host West Bromwich Albion in their next Premier League match at Anfield on Sunday 27 December.
The Reds will travel to Newcastle United for their final 2020 top flight game on Wednesday 30 December.
