G80 BMW M3, G82 M4 Images Leaked Before Debut

[ad_1]

The gradual trickle of spy photos, as well as official teaser images, has given us a pretty good idea of what the soon-to-arrive 2021 BMW M3 and M4 sedan and coupe will look like, and here it looks like some official images have leaked into view. of the public from Unlimited Cars Instagram feed, just before the M Division duo’s debut.

In addition to the latest grille design following that of the G22 4 Series Coupé that launched in June, the performance sedan and coupe are shown here in their respective new hero colors, Isle of Man green and Sao Paulo yellow.

In typical M3 / M4 styling, the sedan’s front treatment mimics that of the coupe, albeit with a slightly wider visual width for the latter. The M4 here has a sportier look with glossy black alloys, while the M3 offers a more conventional glossy job when viewed in profile, in what appears to be a similar wheel design.

At their rear ends, they both have quad tailpipes housed in similar rear bumper diffuser assemblies, while the sculpted vent on the M4 reaches higher up the body and closer to the taillights. There is no trunk lid badge on the M3, except for the BMW Roundel, although the coupe uses what appears to be a blacked out M4 badge, which could indicate the Competition variant that will debut at the models’ launch.

Also seen here are the darkened roofs on both cars in the photo, which are likely the carbon fiber roofs that have been a staple of the M Division’s weight reduction and massive centralization for a few model generations.

The previously confirmed 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder S58 biturbo engine will generate 480 hp as standard, or 510 hp and 650 Nm of torque in the Competition variant. This higher-powered version will be mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, while the M xDrive all-wheel drive with switchable RWD mode will arrive later in the lifecycle.

As suggested above, there will also be a six-speed manual transmission for purists, and this will come standard on a basic rear-wheel drive version of the M3 and M4. Other body styles to come will be the M4 Convertible arriving next year, followed by the first production M3 Touring, which is scheduled to arrive in two years. In the meantime, stay tuned for the arrival of the 2021 BMW M3 and BMW M4 very soon.
