Fulham’s Scott Parker criticizes VAR after Newcastle draw: ‘It’s criminal!’

Fulham manager Scott Parker lashed out at the football video assistant referee (VAR) and accused Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson of diving for a penalty in Saturday’s 1-1 Premier League draw at St James’ Park.

Fulham took the lead after a header from defender Tosin Adarabioyo hit the post and the ball bounced off Matt Ritchie’s face and into the net. But Newcastle received a penalty in the 64th minute when Joachim Andersen fouled Wilson.

Replays showed that initial contact was outside the penalty area, but referee Graham Scott upheld his original decision after consulting the pitch monitor. He sent Anderson off and Wilson converted the penalty.

“From what I just saw, the contact was made outside the box and then it goes into the box and dives,” Parker told Sky Sports on Saturday.

“I do not know if [the referee] he’s looking at the same angles as me. I just do not get it. The game has changed drastically and not for the better. It’s a bit messy.

“We have all the tricks, every slow motion, and yet we’re still not making the right decision. Sitting here, with everything in place and the way the game is going, and still not making the right decisions, it’s criminal for me “.

Fulham, which is 17th in the table with 10 points from 14 games, will face Southampton on Saturday.
