Sheffield United could make a loan in January for Manchester United outcast Jesse Lingard, according to reports.
The Old Trafford offensive midfielder is ready to go a full calendar year without starting a top flight game. The last was on January 1 when United lost 2-0 at Arsenal.
This season, his only two games for the Red Devils were in the EFL Cup in September.
Clearly, Lingard is not part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaerthe plan when entering the last six months of your contract.
And the 28-year-old is now considering his next move.
Fighting Sheffield United could be the short-term solution, according to a report by Manchester evening news.
MEN say the boss of Blades Chris Wilder spoke with Solskjaer about a loan deal for Lingard after Thursday night’s game at Bramall Lane.
The hosts took an early lead, but remained at the bottom of the table with just one point later Man Utd struck back to win 3-2.
The two clubs have a good relationship, although there is an obvious problem.
Lingard is believed to make £ 100.00 and the Old Trafford club wants Sheffield United to pay most of that in any loan deal.
Lingard’s teammates may still have a future
While Lingard’s days at Man Utd seem numbered, there could still be a future at the club for three more.
Phil Jones and Sergio Romero have been frozen after falling off the squad list. Marcos Rojo, meanwhile, has struggled with injuries.
Before the victory at Sheffield United, Solskjaer gave an update on the trio.
“Marcos just felt a discomfort in his calf again,” said the United said the head of the defender, who spent time on loan at Estudiantes.
“He has worked very hard to get back. He played a game with the reserves, got hit there. He worked really hard again and then he felt something, so hopefully he’ll be back in January, Marcos.
“Phil (Jones) should be ready for January and Sergio (Romero) has also been training hard.”
