SABAH SURVEYS | A frog-themed dinner was held yesterday to rally support for PKR and Warisan Plus candidates at a street vendor center in Kota Kinabalu.
The event, themed “bitter frog rice festival,” saw candidates and parliamentarians roast frogs on skewers, to symbolize the rejection of defending politicians, leading to the ongoing Sabah state elections.
Some 150 party members and supporters, mostly dressed in T-shirts bearing the portrait of Acting Chief Minister Shafie Apdal, served the frog dishes to the crowd.
Warisan Plus Kapayan Candidate Jannie Lasimbang, Likas Candidate Tan Lee Fatt, and PKR Api-Api Candidate Christina Liew showed up to meet and greet the crowd.
DAP Seputeh MP Teresa Kok and Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin were also present.
In his speech, Kok explored how the frog could become a special dish and a by-product of the tourism industry.
“When Covid-19 leaves and tourists return in a few months, frog dishes could become the special dish in Sabah and could be served to international tourists.
“We can also make frog pie and frog cookies, “he said.
He urged voters in Sabah to support Warisan Plus and PKR to ensure they return to power in Sabah with a two-thirds majority.
So said Malaysiakini that the event was organized by Chin Teck Ming, the former PBS division chief Luyang who recently resigned from the party.
