KOTA BHARU: Those who are self-employed in Kelantan and need to go out to find day jobs can now apply for a one-time travel permit at the nearest police station, Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said.

He said the one-time permit would be issued during the life of the Motion Control Order (MCO) in the state from today through Jan.26.

“They don’t have to come in multiple times to get a permit to go to work, like when the MCO was first enforced. Now, they only have to apply once and the permit can be used until the end of the MCO.

“To apply for the permit, they must present documents confirming that they are self-employed, such as traders or those who do odd jobs,” he told reporters after observing the situation at a checkpoint in Pasir Pekan near here last night.

He said this was one of the police reforms to facilitate the movement of those who need to leave during the MCO period.

For emergencies, Shafien said the travel permit can be applied for at the police roadblock en route to their respective destinations.

“However, they have to provide proof of travel,” he added.

Previously, he said, it was necessary to obtain a permit from the police station to travel in cases of emergency.

Meanwhile, Shafien said that a total of 448 troops, which include the Royal Malaysian Police, the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Malaysian Volunteer Department (RELA), are stationed at 19 roadblocks mounted on the borders of 10 districts. of the state.

“There are some areas where we set up two or three barricades, like in Pasir Puteh because of the presence of rat routes,” he added.

Yesterday, the government announced the application of MCO in Kelantan from January 16 to 26 after the sharp increase in positive cases of Covid-19 in the state. -Called
