Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has warned critics to fire Kai Havertz after another disappointing display of the £ 71m new signing.
The German international retired 68 minutes after the 1-0 loss to Everton, the fourth consecutive game in which he was substituted, after failing to hit makeshift left-back Ben Godfrey.
But Lampard has jumped to the defense of the 21-year-old.

The 71 million pound German was replaced after 68 minutes in a 1-0 loss to Everton on Saturday.
“Right now there is going to be criticism for every player from every club who loses a game,” said the former Blues midfielder.
“We should be patient with Havertz from a Chelsea winger because he is a high quality talent that has come to this league.”
“He can play in any position in the front three and has played on the right countless times before playing for Chelsea.
“But we have to be patient, especially with any young player who plays at Premier League speed.

The Blues manager paid £ 71 million to the attacker this summer but has yet to deliver.
‘People who want to launch into criticism (should) just wait and give a young player time. Be the player who is going to be Kai Havertz. ‘
Lampard was eager to use the loss at Goodison Park as a reality check.
“This will be a challenge for the players,” he added.
