PETALING JAYA: Four water treatment plants in Selangor that were closed due to contamination resumed operations last night, Air Selangor announced.

In a statement, the company reported that the treatment plants underwent 10 hours of cleaning and rinsing activities yesterday so that they are fully operational and fill the balance tank to the 4-meter level.

This is expected to be completed today at 8.30am before clean water can be distributed to consumers.

“We will inform consumers about the area water supply recovery program after the water supply distribution system has stabilized.

“This includes filling the empty main reservoirs, ensuring that the water pressure is at the optimum level, and ensuring that there is no airlock in the plumbing system,” said Air Selangor.

The company added that it will continue to release 500 million liters per day (MLD) of raw water from the Sungai Selangor Dam, 800 MLD from the Sungai Tinggi Dam, 150 MLD from the 600 HOURS storm and groundwater tank and 582 MLD from the operations of pumping of water ponds. , to help the recovery of the raw water supply for the four plants.

The four plants can treat a maximum of 2,850 MLD.

In addition, the company said that nine water tanker trucks from water companies in other states, including Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Kedah and Johor, have been dispatched to Selangor to help supply water to all affected consumers.
