PUTRAJAYA: Four red zones, Klang in Selangor, as well as Sandakan, Papar and Tuaran in Sabah, will be off limits starting tomorrow when a conditional movement control order (MCO) goes into effect to contain the cases of Covid- 19.

During this period, movements within or outside the areas will not be allowed, with the exception of essential services.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that during the 14 days of the conditional MCO, health authorities would carry out selective examinations in the four areas.

Red zones are areas or districts with at least 41 active cases of Covid-19. Residents who are working will not be able to leave the areas to work, Ismail Sabri said, adding that employers must comply with this order and allow their employees retire. or work from home.

“Only essential services will be allowed, including factories and supply chain services.

“The police, military and other law enforcement authorities will monitor the areas under the conditional MCO. We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate, ”he said.

The Ministry of Industry and International Trade will list the type of essential services allowed in the affected areas.

Under standard operating procedure, only two people will be allowed to leave the house to obtain food and other essential items.

Non-essential businesses cannot operate while restaurants, food outlets, grocery stores, supermarkets, and convenience stores may open from 6 am to 6 pm.

Gas stations and pharmacies can operate from 6 a.m. M. At 6 p. M., While wet markets operate from 6 to. M. At 2 p. M.

Government and private hospitals can operate around the clock, while email services are allowed from 6 am to 8 pm only with no more than two passengers per vehicle.

Express bus and stage services will not be permitted, as is the case with gatherings in all places of worship and schools, institutions of higher learning, kindergartens and nurseries.

In another matter, Ismail Sabri said that police can now issue compounds on the spot against those caught violating the SOP.

He said the Attorney General had allowed the police to do so, provided the compound is issued by an officer with the rank of inspector or higher.

“Before this, offenders had to be taken to the police station to have the enclosure issued to them. Now, the police can issue it in the place where the crime is committed, such as roadblocks, ”he said.

The minister added that prison authorities were also asked to draw up a new POE to curb the spread of Covid-19 among inmates.

On Tuesday, 401 of the 691 positive cases were recorded in Kedah and Perak prisons, and this explosion of cases in a short period had alarmed the public, he said.
