JOHOR BARU: Four policemen who allegedly smuggled drugs into the dungeon at the Kota Tinggi District Police Headquarters were arrested.

Johor Police Chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the suspects, aged 28 to 36, with ranks ranging from corporal to sheriff, were arrested on December 10.

He said they were arrested for drug smuggling in jail on December 3.

Comm Ayob said the four were detained under Section 3 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1985.

“Two of them tested positive for methamphetamine,” he told a news conference at the Johor police contingent headquarters here on Thursday (December 17).

Comm Ayob also said that the Johor Police Department of Integrity and Compliance had conducted a survey of all police stations and district police headquarters in the state.

He said the study found four police stations and one district police station with “integrity problems”, and that 30% of the police officers at these stations had poor integrity records.

“Potentially, they could cause much bigger problems for the stations and the district police headquarters,” he said.

Comm Ayob there were 263 police officers of all ranks at these four stations and at the police district headquarters.

“We have identified 91 of them with discipline problems,” he said.

Comm Ayob said those identified would undergo advice from My Liabiliti and could be transferred if necessary.
