Four goalkeepers Liverpool should consider as a transfer deadline after Alisson’s injury | Soccer Sport

The Liverpool team appeared to be in good shape after the additions of Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota last month. The expectation was that the Reds’ business, at least in terms of revenue, would end there.

But injuries can strain your hand on the deadline day. Alisson could be out for around six weeks, and that’s a significant blow for Jurgen Klopp.

It didn’t take long for the absence of the Brazilian goalkeeper to be felt. Without him, Liverpool sent seven goals in a surprising loss to Aston Villa on Sunday.

His replacement, Adrian, seemed nervous and unconfident, which is understandable given the criticism he has faced in the past.

But Klopp clearly cannot rely on the former West Ham United player to replace Alisson. With that in mind, Express Sport takes a look at the goalkeepers Liverpool could target before the transfer window closes tonight.

That could mean they are willing to let Gazzaniga go, especially if Liverpool make a tempting offer.

The Argentinian would certainly provide Premier League experience and appears, in his recent form, a more stable pair of hands than Adrian.

Ugurcan Cakir

The Trabzonspor goalkeeper was the subject of Liverpool interest in January, but no move materialized.

Cakir has the advantage of being relatively young – at 24, he would have time to grow in his role and would not expect to be a regular starter.

A goalkeeper eight years younger than Adrian and one highly valued in Turkey certainly sounds like an attractive prospect.

Trabzonspor is said to value Cakir at 20 million euros (£ 18.2 million), so Liverpool would not have to break the bank.

That kind of reversal, after Sunday’s humiliating result, might make more sense now.

Nick pope

Pope hasn’t started the new season particularly well, he made a costly mistake in Burnley’s loss at Newcastle on Saturday, but he’s still one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Premier League.

He ran very close to Alisson and Ederson in the Gold Glove race last season, and made countless saves as Burnley became the only road team in the division to avoid defeat at Anfield.

That performance would have impressed Klopp, although the 28-year-old is likely to be more expensive than other potential options and will not be content to sit on the bench when Alisson returns.

Danijel subasic

If Liverpool turns to experience, even more experienced than Adrian, Subasic could be an option.

The 35-year-old, who was linked to the Reds a couple of seasons ago, is a free agent after his contract in Monaco expired.

He made close to 300 appearances for the French club and it would be a relatively cheap and risk-free option in the short term.

If he is what Liverpool are looking for is another question. Club signings are generally made with an eye toward both the future and the present, and Adrian’s recent demonstrations suggest that experience isn’t everything.

However, Subasic could be an option if other potential deals prove difficult.
