Four arrested for obstructing the police in the performance of their duty

PETALING JAYA: A group of rioters paid a heavy price Sunday for stopping the police from doing their duty.

A team of police officers conducting crime prevention patrols at Jalan Harapan in Seapark, here, saw four men loitering in the area and causing a scandal by revving their motorcycle engines around 11:45 p.m.

The policemen detained and controlled the men who are between 29 and 46 years old.

As he did so, another motorcyclist on a high-powered motorcycle arrived at the scene and began revving the engine in front of the police officers.

Then the police also summoned him to carry out checks.

Petaling Jaya Police Chief, ACP NIk, Ezanee Mohd Faisal, said today that while reviewing the men’s data, one of them confronted police personnel before yelling and reprimanding them.

He said that as the police team prepared to arrest the five men, one of them ran and escaped.

Nik Ezanee said the four suspects were detained and held in custody for three days for investigations.

He said that checks showed that two of the suspects have various criminal and drug-related offenses.

Nik Ezanee said the case is being investigated for obstructing a public official in the performance of his duties under Section 186 of the Penal Code.

“We are also looking for the fugitive suspect. We urge the public to cooperate when the police are performing their duties. ” he said.
