KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah Attorney General Tan Sri Herman Luping died on Friday (December 11). He was 83 years old.

State Vice Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Joniston Bangkuai confirmed this in a Facebook post.

“Our condolences to the family of the late Tan Sri Herman Luping.

“It is sad to hear of his passing, but I am glad I had the opportunity to visit him this morning. RIP (Rest in peace) Tan Sri,” he wrote.

In a previous post on the PBS N9 Tamparuli Facebook page, Joniston was seen along with the state’s Rural Development Minister, Datuk Jahid Jahim, visiting Luping at his residence in Kampung Likas here.

Also in attendance was PBS Supreme Council Member Datuk William Majimbun.

An esteemed personality from the Kadazandusun community, Luping, 83, a former Senior Deputy Minister, was part of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) established in 2012 to investigate the problem of long-standing illegal immigrants in Sabah.

A former lawyer and politician, he was well known in Sabah, even having written several books such as “The Sabah Dilemma”, which historically retransmitted political events in the state.
