PUTRAJAYA: A former political secretary will be charged on Thursday (October 15) with alleged corruption in the amount of RM5 thousand involving tenders for projects involving a ministry.

The suspect, in his 40s, will be charged under Section 16 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act in the Kuala Lumpur court.

The man, who served as an assistant to a former minister in the previous administration, is also expected to face charges in Shah Alam’s court on October 23 for similar offenses.

Sources said the suspect was believed to have helped a contractor secure projects with the ministry.

“We believe that, in return, he received the gratification of various people through various transactions,” he said.

MACC research director Datuk Norazlan Mohd Razali confirmed that the former political secretary will face court charges tomorrow.

He also said that three other senior officials from an agency under the ministry who were investigated in the same case will also soon be charged with corruption.
