PETALING JAYA: Former Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) CEO Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom).
Raja Azmi replaces Azmir Zain, who resigned on August 14 this year after being with Mavcom since April 1, 2016.
“The commission welcomes Raja Azmi, who brings with him extensive knowledge and experience in the aviation industry, as well as in the corporate sector.
“Mavcom is confident that Raja Azmi will be able to lead the commission well in promoting a consumer-focused and resilient civil aviation sector,” it said today in a statement.
“On behalf of the commissioners, senior management and staff, Mavcom CEO Saripuddin Kasim expresses his deepest appreciation and thanks Azmir for his leadership and contributions to the industry, consumers and the commission.”
Raja Azmi was appointed CEO of MAHB in January 2019 and held that position for a year after serving as the group’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since February 2016.
He was previously appointed to the Board of Directors of the Airports Council International and the Asia Pacific Airports Council International and later its President.
Prior to that, he was CFO and CEO of UDA Holdings Bhd, Managing Director of Zelan Bhd, CFO of UEM Group Bhd, and CEO of Time Engineering Bhd.
He also served as CFO at Tronoh Consolidated Malaysia Bhd.
Raja Azmi holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Bath, UK and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malaysia and the Institute of Accountants in Malaysia. She had been part of Sapura Telecommunications Bhd, Malaysia Tobacco Company Bhd and Coopers & Lybrand Malaysia, where she began her career in 1987.
