BANGKOK (ANN): A man reportedly shot himself at his ex-girlfriend’s wedding reception on Sunday night in Thailand’s Nakhon Si Thammarat province, killing four people, including the newlywed couple, while one person was injured.
The shooting occurred in a house that had been temporarily transformed into a wedding venue in the Dusit sub-district, Thamphanra district.
When officers from the Thamphanra Police Station arrived at the crime scene, they found the bodies of Narongrit Thepthong, 32, and Khanchit Somwong, 47, lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. They also found an injured person named Sathaporn Somwong, 25, with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to the hospital where his condition was still critical.
About 100 meters from the wedding site, police found the bodies of the groom, Arun Phothaworn, 31, and the bride, Darawan Boonmeechai, 24, with multiple gunshot wounds in a ditch. Officials also reportedly found multiple shell casings from 9mm, .38 and 22 caliber pistols.
Witnesses reportedly said that Darawan and Arun had arranged their wedding at the house since early in the morning.
Suddenly, a former Darawan groom appeared at the wedding reception in the evening and was reportedly confronted by Arun, which turned into a fist fight. “Then I heard several shots that sent the guests crashing, while no one saw where the shooter went,” said one of the witnesses.
